Ask questions about your notes

Choose the right chat, ask about your materials, check sources and manage conversations.

Use chat to understand a discussion, find an agreement or bring together information from your notes. AI chat is included in Pro and needs a connection and an available AI allowance. See plans for current terms.

Choose where to ask

Inside a note: open the note and use the question field at the bottom. The chat opens over the document and can use the current note and its completed transcript. It can look for related materials when needed.

In the general chat: click New chat beside Chat in the sidebar (the button appears when you hover over or focus the row), or use New chat on the home screen. Clicking the Chat row itself expands or collapses your conversation history. The general chat looks for relevant notes and transcripts; it does not load your entire library into every answer.

For a question about one particular meeting, start in that meeting’s note. For a question spanning several discussions, use the general Chat section and name the project or topic.

Write a useful question

Tell Oudden what you want to find and which discussion you mean. For example:

  • “What did we decide to include in the first version of the client portal?”
  • “Which questions were still open after the prototype review?”
  • “Compare the launch decisions in our last two portal discussions.”

Press Enter or the send arrow. Shift+Enter adds a line break. You can ask a follow-up in the same conversation. Be specific if there are several projects with similar names; you can also open the intended note and ask there.

Check the sources

When an answer includes source chips, each shows a document title and whether it refers to a note or transcript. Click one to open the source and check the statement against the original. Check names, dates and decisions before relying on the answer or sharing it.

A source can become unavailable if it changed, was deleted or you lost access. Ask again using the current materials. Not every answer includes sources, and an answer without a source is not proof that a particular agreement was recorded.

Stop, retry or copy an answer

While a response is being generated, use Stop generating to stop it. An interrupted response may be incomplete. If an answer fails, use Try again; a retry makes a new AI request and is subject to the plan’s allowance.

Use Copy on the answer to put its text on the clipboard. When alternatives from retries are available, the previous/next answer controls let you view them. Copying an answer does not create or update a note.

Return to conversations

In the general Chat section, select a previous conversation to continue it. Use Show more chats or Load earlier messages when offered. The conversation’s actions menu lets you Rename or Delete chat. Read the confirmation before deleting: that conversation cannot be restored through the interface.

A note’s embedded chat belongs to that note. Sharing the note does not share your private chat history.

If chat cannot respond

Check the connection and any plan or AI allowance message. If the allowance is exhausted, follow the availability information shown by Oudden. Repeatedly retrying does not remove the limit.

If the message says the note changed, send the question again using the current version. If saving failed before sending, follow Note saving problems. For a missing source, check that the material still exists and is available to your account. Search on the device and AI retrieval do not necessarily have the same material available yet.
