Copy and export notes
Copy note text or save a PDF or Markdown file, and choose between a file and a shared link.
You can take a finished note into another application or save a file copy. A file is a snapshot at the time of export. A shared link uses the note’s access settings instead; see Share a note.
Choose the note view
Open the document and check the selector below its title. If it has a transcript, switch to the note before copying or exporting the note content. The same actions offer different content and formats in the transcript view. Stop an active recording or wait for audio import to finish before exporting.
Copy the text
- Open the note view.
- Click Copy among the actions below the title.
- Paste into the destination document or message.
- Check the result in that application, particularly lists and line breaks.
This action copies note content. It is different from Copy link in the sharing menu and does not grant anyone access to the document.
Save Markdown or PDF
Click Export below the title and choose a format:

| As Markdown | You want a text file with Markdown formatting for another editor. Check how that editor displays complex blocks. |
| As PDF (.pdf) | You want a document copy to read, print or send. Review the saved pages before sharing. |
Choose a destination in the system save dialog and wait for export to complete. Later edits in Oudden do not update an already exported file. Export again to make a fresh copy.
Export the transcript instead
Switch to the transcript view first. Its formats are text (.txt), Markdown (.md), subtitles (.srt) and JSON (.json). See Work with a transcript for details.
Exporting a note or transcript does not export the recorded audio or chat history. To copy an individual chat answer, use its own Copy action.
If copy or export fails
Check that the intended document and view are open. If Oudden shows a saving or version warning, resolve it before making the final copy. Choose a writable location in the system dialog and try the export again.
If the problem persists, contact support with the format, operating system and error message. Keep your working note; deleting or regenerating it is not a troubleshooting step for export.
