Voice input history

History lets you return to recently dictated text and reuse it. It is stored on this computer when history saving is enabled.

Find and copy text

1. Open the main Oudden window.
2. Choose Voice input in the left menu.
3. Find the entry you need. Entries are grouped by date.
4. Click Copy text on the entry.
5. Switch to the target app and paste with ⌘V on Mac or Ctrl+V on Windows.

A confirmation appears when copying succeeds. To change the text, edit it after pasting it into your document or message.

Delete one entry

Click Delete on the entry and confirm in the dialog. Copy any text you still need first: deleted entries cannot be restored through history.

Any stored audio associated with that entry is also deleted.

Clear history

Click Clear all above the list and confirm deletion. This removes the saved dictation history and any older dictation audio stored by Oudden on this device. Save anything you need first; this cannot be undone.

Deleting an entry from history does not remove text you have already pasted into an email, document or another app.

Stop saving new dictations

1. Open settings → Privacy & Data.
2. Turn Dictation history off.

New text will no longer be added to history. Voice input and your selected pasting method will continue to work.

Turning history off does not delete existing entries. Use Clear all to remove those. Dictation text saving and Audio retention are separate settings; the history switch does not change how long audio is kept.

If text is missing

• Check whether history saving was enabled when you dictated. Enabling it now will not recover text that was never saved.
• Make sure you are using the computer where you dictated the text.
• A cancelled dictation or a recording with no recognised words does not add finished text to history.
• If a loading error appears, click Retry. If it happens again, contact support.
