Storage and deletion

Set audio retention, clear local history, and understand the difference between deleting a note and resetting the app.

Choose the data you actually want to remove. Audio, voice input history, notes, and the account are separate; clearing one does not clear everything.

Choose an audio retention period

  1. Finish any active recording.
  2. Open settings → Privacy & DataAudio Retention.
  3. Choose Disabled, or keep audio for 7, 14, 30, 60, or 90 days.
  4. Wait for the setting to save. If an error appears, retry and check the result.

Audio retention is disabled by default. Retained audio is encrypted and stored on this computer for the account. Set the policy before recording. Stop the meeting before changing this setting.

Enabling retention now does not recover audio that was not kept earlier. The retention control manages audio, not how long you can keep or read transcripts and notes. To remove saved audio immediately, use the separate clear action below.

Remove retained audio

In the same settings section, Storage Usage shows the audio file count and space used. Select Clear All Audio, read the confirmation, and confirm only when you no longer need those recordings.

This removes saved audio for this account and legacy dictation audio files on this device. Text and notes remain. Oudden cannot undo this deletion. It does not delete an original audio file you selected from another folder for import.

If deletion reports a problem, some files may remain. Retry and check the storage usage rather than assuming that every file has been removed.

Clear voice input history

To remove one entry or the whole text history, use the controls in Voice Input. To stop saving new entries, switch off Dictation history in Privacy & Data.

Switching history off leaves earlier entries in place. Clearing that history does not remove text already inserted into another app or change audio retention. Follow Voice input history for the individual steps.

Deleting a history entry also removes any stored audio associated with it. Clearing all history also removes older dictation audio stored on this device.

Delete a note

If the document itself is no longer needed, delete it from the note interface. This is a change to the note in your account, not just a way to clear a local cache. It synchronizes when a connection is available.

Before deleting, export or copy anything you want to keep. See Create and format a note for the delete action. If you only want to stop someone reading it, revoke their access instead of deleting your own note.

Reset the app on this computer

A reset is a broad local cleanup, not a first step for fixing an unsaved note. Before using it, finish recordings, save or export important work, and resolve save or sync warnings. Local-only work may be lost.

Open settings → SystemReset All App Data. Read the confirmation before selecting its destructive action. The app removes local settings, transcriptions, audio recordings, calendar connections, and cached data, signs you out, and restarts.

The cleanup includes local data for every Oudden account used on this computer, not just the account currently signed in. Save or export any local-only work you need from those accounts before resetting.

The reset does not delete cloud data or the account and does not cancel a subscription. Locally held data that has no synchronized or exported copy cannot be restored by signing in again. If a reset fails, some local data may already have been removed; read the error before attempting it again.

Account deletion and billing

To close your account, email ruslan@oudden.com from its registered address. Say that you want to delete the account, rather than just clear this computer. We will confirm the request before deleting it. Do not send passwords or sign-in codes.

Export anything you need first. Account deletion removes your personal workspace's synchronized notes, transcripts, chats and shared access, and disables sign-in. Necessary payment and technical records may remain; past payments are not erased. Local audio and files on your devices are separate.

For a paid account, cancel renewal or ask support to help before closure. Deleting audio, resetting Oudden, signing out, or uninstalling the app does not cancel a subscription.
