Free, Pro, and the AI allowance

See which features are free, where to check your AI allowance, and how its rolling seven-day recovery works.

You can use Oudden without a paid subscription for voice input, meeting transcription, audio file import, and manual work with notes and search. Pro adds AI note generation and chat. Current prices and plan availability are on the Pricing page and in the app’s Plans & Billing.

A transcript and an AI note are different results. A completed free transcription does not automatically start a paid AI action. See Create a note from a transcript.

Check your plan and allowance

Check your current plan in settings → Plans & Billing. To see Pro usage, click your account name at the bottom of the sidebar and select AI usage. The Weekly usage limit window shows the remaining allowance and has a How the limit works explanation.

When the app displays a remaining amount or recovery time, use that current information rather than an earlier screenshot. The usage menu item is shown for paid plans; Free does not include AI access.

Chat and AI note generation share the allowance. Voice input and local transcription do not use it. It is not a count of recording minutes or a fixed number of questions: AI actions can use different amounts of the allowance.

Some usage may still be calculated, and a failed refresh can leave the last received value on screen. Read those messages before treating the displayed amount or time as final.

How the allowance recovers

The limit covers the last seven days. Each used portion becomes available again seven days after that use, so recovery is gradual.

For example, the portion used on Monday morning becomes available again the following Monday morning. A portion used on Thursday recovers on Thursday. There is no single reset at the start of a calendar week.

If you stop using AI, the allowance returns to 100% seven days after the last use, assuming your plan still includes AI. Monthly or yearly billing does not change this seven-day window.

If the allowance is exhausted

  1. Open the account menu → AI usage and check any recovery time shown.
  2. Wait until enough allowance becomes available, then try the AI action again.
  3. Continue with local transcription or manual note editing in the meantime.

You do not need to record or import the same audio again. Keep the transcript and return to AI note generation later. Reinstalling the app or signing in again does not reset account usage.

If AI is unavailable for another reason

  • The plan is Free: AI needs Pro; free local transcription remains available.
  • You have paid but still see Free: follow Payment went through, but Pro is missing.
  • There is no connection or sign-in needs attention: restore the connection and online access for the same account.
  • The app cannot check the allowance: retry its check. Missing usage data is not confirmation that the limit is exhausted.
  • The plan and allowance look correct: read the specific error. For note generation, check that the transcript is complete and not empty; for chat, follow Chat troubleshooting.

If the error continues, contact support with its exact text, your app version, and what action failed. Do not send private note content.
