Open a shared note
Find notes shared with your email address and understand read-only access in the app and browser.
How you open a shared note depends on the access its owner chose. A public link can be read in the browser. An invitation-only note is read in the Oudden app using the invited account.
Open an invitation-only note
- Check which email address the owner invited.
- Open Oudden and sign in with the invited email address, using an email code or the Google account with that address. Complete any code-confirmation step shown during sign-in.
- Open Shared with me in the sidebar and select the note.
If the link page offers Open in Oudden, you can use it to request that the app open the document. Otherwise open the app and its Shared with me section manually. If you do not have Oudden, use the page’s download action first. Installing the app or clicking a link does not by itself grant access.
A matching verified email is what connects the invitation to your account. If you use another email for Oudden, ask the owner to invite that address.
Where received notes appear
Received notes appear in Shared with me, separately from My notes and your folders. An invitation gives access to that document, not the owner’s other notes, folders or workspace.
The list shows documents that are currently available to you. If access was removed, the document may no longer be listed or may become unavailable when opened.
What you can do
The document is read-only. The app displays its title, note text and available transcript. You cannot edit, move, delete or manage access to someone else's note. The owner's private chat history and raw recorded audio are not included.
If you need a correction, ask the owner to make it. The owner can also send an exported file if that better suits your work.
Open a public link
With Anyone with the link enabled, open the link in a browser. You do not need to sign in to read the public title and note body. The public page does not include the transcript, meeting participants, audio or chat history.
Receiving a public link does not add an invitation to Shared with me. For access through that section, ask the owner to invite your email. The owner can later close public access.
If the note does not open
- The browser asks you to use the app: follow the invitation steps above. The page cannot establish your document permissions on its own.
- The app is signed in with another email: save your current work, then use the invited account or ask for an invitation to the address you use.
- The invitation is still waiting: complete sign-in with the invited email, then reopen Shared with me with a connection. Email ownership is confirmed during sign-in; opening the invitation email does not activate access.
- The note is missing: ask the owner to check the exact recipient address and whether access is still enabled.
- A formerly public link stopped working: the owner may have restricted access, or the document/link may no longer be available. Ask the owner to check it.
An unavailable page does not reveal which of these applies. If the owner confirms access but opening still fails, contact support with the error message and your app version. Do not post private note links publicly.
