Create and edit notes with AI

Oudden can propose an edited note or a new document. A response in chat is not itself a saved change: you choose Apply or Create. These AI features require Pro, a connection and an available allowance.

Edit the note you have open

1. Open your note and use its chat field at the bottom.
2. Ask for a specific change, for example: “Add a preparation checklist below the launch decisions. Keep the other sections.”
3. Wait for the response and the Edit note proposal. Check that it names the note you intended to change.
4. Choose Apply to update the note, or Cancel to dismiss the proposal.
5. Read the updated document. Check that the requested change is correct and that the rest of the content still says what you need.

This chat changes the current note, not another note named in the request. Open the other note first if that is what you want to edit. Changes to note text do not rewrite its transcript.

Create a new note from discussions

1. Click New chat beside Chat in the sidebar or on the home screen.
2. Explicitly ask for a new note, such as “Create a launch-plan note from our client portal discussions.” Give enough context to identify the project.
3. Read the response and check any source references. Wait for a Create note proposal.
4. Click Create. The note is created and opened through the normal note flow.

If creation succeeded but opening failed, use Open note to try opening it again instead of requesting another copy. You can then edit the result yourself and move it to a folder.

A proposal is not a saved document

The proposal’s Apply or Create button performs the action. Copying the chat response, closing chat or leaving the proposal unanswered does not approve it. A plain text answer without a proposal does not change your notes.

Unconfirmed proposals are temporary and are not saved as pending tasks in chat history. If the proposal is no longer available after reopening the app or conversation, ask again. A note that was successfully created is a normal note.

Undo or request another version

After applying an edit, focus the note body and use ⌘Z on macOS or Ctrl+Z on Windows to undo the body change while it is still in the editor's undo history. If AI also changed the title, restore the title separately. You can also ask for another change or finish editing manually. Creating a new note is not undone by the editor's undo action.

For full meeting summaries, use Create a note from a transcript. Regeneration can replace the title and the whole note; it is not the same as asking chat for a targeted edit.

If the proposal cannot be applied

If you edited the note after the proposal was prepared, Oudden may mark it outdated rather than overwrite your work. Review the current note and ask again for the change you still want.

If saving fails, read the message and resolve the saving problem. When the same proposal offers a retry, use that action. Do not assume a failed navigation means creation failed.
